Directions for Allerga
The recommended dosage of Allegra is one tablet twice a day in the morning and evening with strength to be determined by the doctor. Each dose should be taken with a full glass of water.
How Allerga works
Allegra is an antihistamine which works against the naturally occurring chemical histamine in the body.
Side effects of Allerga
Stop taking Allegra and seek emergency medical attention if it causes an allergic reaction that leads to difficulty in breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives. Such allergic reactions occur only rarely, and other serious side effects are not likely to occur. Some less serious side effects like nausea or an upset stomach are more likely to occur.
Other Allerga Information
Store Allegra at room temperature away from moisture and heat. It is advisable to avoid taking Allegra close to a dose of an antacid that contains aluminum or magnesium such as Rolaids, Maalox, Mylanta, Milk of Magnesia, Pepcid Complete, and others as these medications may decrease the effectiveness of Allegra. It is not known if the active ingredient in Allegra, Fexofenadine will harm an unborn baby. Hence it is advisable to first talk to your doctor if you are pregnant and starting on Aldactone. It is also not known whether fexofenadine passes into breast milk and so should not be taken by lactating mothers without doctor's advice. Allegra is not approved for use by children younger than 6 years of age.
