Clarinex Used For
Clarinex (Desloratadine) is an antihistamine that is prescribed for treatment of symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itching and watering of the eyes, and other allergic symptoms that are caused by seasonal and other allergies.
Directions for Clarinex medication
The dosage of Clarinex will be different for different patients and should be determined by the doctor. Each regular tablet of this medication should be swallowed with a full glass (8 ounces) of water while the orally disentigrating tablet should be placed on the tongue and allowed to swallow. It can be swallow with or without water. Clarinex is usually taken once a day.
How Clarinex works
Patients on Clarinex should use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities since the medication may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Patients who have had an allergic reaction to an antihistamine; kidney disease; or liver disease should not take Clarinex without proper medica advice. Clarinex is known to pass into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Inform your doctor that you are breast feeding a baby before starting on this medication. The orally-disintegrating tablets should be taken immediately after removal from the blister packaging and should not be stored for later use.
Side effects of Clarinex medication
Clarinex may lead to an allergic reaction, irregular or fast heartbeats, drowsiness or dizziness, nausea, dry mouth or throat, or muscle aches. Talk to your doctor if any of these side effects get aggravated or cause undue discomfort.
Other Clarinex Information
This medication should never be used more than directed. Clarinex should be stored at room away from moisture and heat. Avoid exposing the medication to temperatures above 86 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius). Clarinex can be taken with or without food.
