Claritin Used For
Claritin Loratadine is an antihistamine that helps prevent sneezing, runny nose, itching and watering of the eyes, and other allergic symptoms. It is prescribed for the treatment of allergies, hives (urticaria), and other allergic inflammatory conditions.
Directions for Claritin
The recommended dose of Claritin is once a day, strength to be determined by your doctor.
How Claritin works
Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities since Claritin may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Also remember to discuss with your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to an antihistamine, have kidney or liver disease before starting on Claritin since these may require a change in dose or monitoring.
Side effects of Claritin
In some patients, Claritin can lead to serious side effects such as an irregular heartbeat or seizures. More likely to occur but less serious side effects include drowsiness or dizziness; headache; nervousness; nausea, diarrhea, or abdominal discomfort; dry mouth; dry skin or itchiness; or discoloration of urine.

Claritin tablets should not be crushed or chewed but swallowed whole with a full glass of water.
