Detrol LA capsules are indicated for the treatment of overactive bladder with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and frequency.
Directions for Detrol
The recommended dose of Detrol LA capsules is 4 mg daily which may be lowered to 2 mg daily on the basis of individual response and tolerance and doctor opinion. For patients with significantly reduced hepatic function or renal function, the recommended dose of this medication is 2 mg daily. The medication should be taken once daily with liquids and that tablet should be swallowed whole without crushing or breaking.
How Detrol Tolterodine Tartrate works
Patients with significant bladder outflow obstruction may develop urinary retention while those with gastrointestinal obstructive disorders like plyoric stenosis are at risk of gastric retention when put on Detrol LA and should use the medication with caution. Detrol LA should also be used with caution in patients being treated for narrow-angle glaucoma.
Side effects of Detrol
Like all medications, Detrol LA also produces certain side effects which include blurred vision, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, fatigue, dizziness, constipation, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, abnormal vision, anxiety, sinusitis & dysuria. It is advisable to consult a doctor is any of the above effects become aggravated or persist over an extended period.

This medicine may cause some people to have vision problems and might also make some people dizzy or drowsy. It is advisable to ensure that your vision is clear before you drive or use machinery or do any task that could be dangerous if done with reduced vision or in a semi-alert state. This medicine may lead to a dry mouth, nose or throat. Hence the drug should be taken with sufficient amount of water and sugarless candy or gum and bits of ice should be used to relive the dryness. But if the drying effect continues even after 2 weeks, it is advisable to report it to a doctor since this might lead to dental diseases like tooth decay, gum disease and infections.
