Flovent HFA Used For
Flovent – Fluticasone helps prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. Flovent HFA is prescribed for preventing asthma attacks.
Directions for Flovent inhaler
Shake the inhaler well before use and remove the cap from the mouthpiece. Holding the inhaler mouthpiece down, either 1 or 2 inches in front of your open mouth or inside the mouth above the tongue, push down on the canister and taken a slow deep breath. Hold your breath for 10 seconds, and then exhale slowly. Replace the cover on the mouthpiece after each dose.
How Flovent inhaler works
Avoid items or activities that you know will cause allergic symptoms in you. Especially stay away from areas where dust or pet fur may aggravate you asthma or allergy. It is advisable to stay away from people with chicken pox, measles or any other type of infection when under treatment with Flovent HFA because the medication lowers the strength of the immune system. To avoid developing a yeast infection in your mouth, rinse the mouth with water without swallowing after using the medication. It is very important that you use the inhaler properly, so that the medicine gets into your lungs.
Side effects of Flovent inhaler
As with all other medicines, Flovent too has its side effects which may or may not include difficulty in breathing, numbness, tingling or pain, a rash, unexplained open sores, bruising, worsening respiratory symptoms, dryness of the mouth, nose or throat after use, yeast (or another) infection in the mouth or throat (white patches), hoarseness or deepening of the voice, cough, sore throat, wheezing, increased pressure in the eyes, glaucoma, tearing of the eyes, headache, lightheadedness, unpleasant (or loss of) taste or smell, decreased growth in children taking large doses, and/or cataracts, which may develop after prolonged use.
Other Flovent inhaler Information
Flovent only prevent asthma attacks from occurring but is not useful to stop an asthma attack after it has started. Another medicine should be kept on hand to treat such attacks.
