Extra care is called for when using Hyzaar with an exercise regimen or during hot weather. Alcoholic beverages should be avoid while on this drug since alcohol may combine with Hyzaar to cause an extra drop in blood pressure, which might make the patient dizzy or faint. Diabetics should talk to their doctor first before starting on Hyzaar since its ingredient hydrochlorothiazide may raise blood sugar levels.

Other Hyzaar Medication Information
The maximal antihypertensive effect of Hyzaar is attained about 3 weeks after initiation of therapy. Women who are pregnant or expecting to be pregnant soon should take care with Hyzaar, especially during second and third trimester since the drug acts directly on the renin-angiotensin system and can cause injury and even death of the developing fetus. When pregnancy is detected, this drug should be discontinued as soon as possible.
