Lumigan Used For
Lumigan is indicated for patients who are suffering from high intraocular pressure due to open angle glaucoma or for those patients who can not be prescribed or are not sufficienty responsive to other intraocular pressure reducing medications for ocular hypertension.
Directions for Lumigan eye drop
The recommended dosage of Lumigan for adults is one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. Dosage for children should be decided for individual patients by the doctor.
How Lumigan eye drop works
It is advisable to check with your doctor if you experience itching, redness, swelling, or other signs of eye or eyelid irritation since these signs might indicate an allergy to bimatoprost. Lumigan might also cause blurred vision for a short time after each use. If you are wearing contact lenses, take them off prior to administering the solution and wait for at least 15 minutes before putting them on again.
Side effects of Lumigan eye drop
Lumigan may increase the amount of brown pigment in the iris through an increase in the number of melanosomes. This might lead to a gradual change in eye color. Other side effects of this drug include: blindness, blurred or decreased vision, change in color vision, color changes in skin around eyes, difficulty seeing at night, eye color changes, fever or chills, lack or loss of strength, redness, burning, dry or itching eyes, redness, pain, swelling of eye, eyelid, or inner lining of eyelid, eye discharge or excessive tearing, eye strain, feeling of having something in the eye, increase in hair growth, increased sensitivity of eyes to sunlight.
Other Lumigan Information
Lumigan should not be administered more than once daily since its effectiveness might be reduced on account of frequent and indiscriminate administration. Patients should be advised in advance that reduction of the intraocular pressure starts approximately 4 hours after the first administration with maximum effect reached within approximately 8 to 12 hours.
