Naprosyn (Naproxen) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is prescribed for reducing pain, inflammation, and stiffness caused by many conditions, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, ankylosing spondylitis, injury, abdominal cramps associated with menstruation, tendinitis, and bursitis.
Directions for Naprosyn
The dose of Naprosyn is different for different people and is to be determined by the doctor.
How Naprosyn medication works
Naprosyn (Naproxen) may increase the sensitivity of skin to sunlight. Patients on Naprosyn should avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or where unavoidable, use a sunscreen and wear protective clothing. Naprosyn may increase the risk of dangerous stomach bleeding if combined with alcohol. Patients are advised to avoid alcohol or use it with moderation (less than 3 alcoholic beverages a day). It is necessary to avoid driving, operating machinery or performing other hazardous tasks as these may lead to dizziness and drowsiness while under treatment with Naprosyn.
Naprosyn Naproxen Side effects
As with all other medications, Naprosyn also has its side effects which may or may not include any or all of the following: blood in vomit or bloody, black, or tarry stools, muscle cramps, numbness, tingling ulcers (open sores) in the mouth, rapid weight gain (fluid retention), seizures, decreased hearing or ringing in the ears, yellowing of your skin or eyes (jaundice), abdominal cramping, heartburn, indigestion, dizziness or headache, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, depression, fatigue, weakness, dry mouth, and/or irregular menstrual periods.
