How Prevacid medication works
It is advisable to inform your doctor if you have ever had liver disease before starting on Prevacid as this may either require a change in medication or special dose adjustment and monitoring during treatment. The 15 mg and 30 mg Prevacid SoluTabs contain 2.5 mg and 5.1 mg phenylalanine respectively per tablet. Patients with phenylketonuria may need monitoring of intake of this additive. The capsule form of this medication should not be broken, chewed or crushed.
Prevacid Solutab side effects
As with all other medications, Prevacid also has its own side effects which may or may not include any or all of the following: diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, and/or headache. It is advisable to seek immediate medical help if any of the above symptoms get aggravated or cause undue discomfort.
Other Prevacid Information
Each dose of the medicine should be taken with a full glass of water, just before a meal. Patients with difficulty in swallowing can open the Prevacid capsules and sprinkle the contents on to a tablespoonful of applesauce. The pellets should be mixed with the applesauce and then swallowed immediately. The applesauce should not be hot and should be soft enough to be swallowed without chewing as the pellets should not be chewed or crushed. If the pellets are mixed with juice, the glass should be rinsed with an additional two ounces of juice after consuming the mixture and the contents swallowed immediately.
