VENTOLIN - Salbutamol
Ventolin Used For
Ventolin (Albuterol) is prescribed to treat bronchospasm (wheezing, shortness of breath) associated with reversible obstructive airway disease such as asthma.
Directions for Ventolin
The dosage for Ventolin is different for different patients and is decided by the doctor. The medication should be taken at the same time every day.
How Ventolin works
Seek medical attention if you feel the need for more than your usual dose in a 24-hour period as this could be early indication of a serious asthma attack. Inform your doctor if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy or another seizure disorder, diabetes, an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), difficulty swallowing, liver or kidney disease as these conditions might require special dosage or monitoring during treatment. Situations that may lead to a worsening of the respiratory condition such as exercising in cold, dry air, smoking, breathing in dust, and exposure to allergens such as pet fur should be strongly avoided.
Ventolin side effects
As with all other medications, Ventolin also has its side effects which may or may not include any or all of the following: chest pain or irregular heartbeats, headache, dizziness or lightheadedness, insomnia, tremors, nervousness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and/or dry mouth. It is advisable to seek immediate medical attention if any of the above side effects become aggravated or cause undue discomfort.
