More information about Cialis

What is Cialis?

Cialis is an FDA-approved prescription medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED).

Tadalafil, the active ingredient in Cialis, stays in your system for longer than other ED medications, so you can be ready right when you need it. Also known as “the weekend pill,” it works in as little as 30 minutes with effects that last for up to 36 hours.

How does Cialis work?

Cialis contains the active ingredient tadalafil, which is classified as a PDE-5 (phosphodiesterase type 5) inhibitor. PDE-5 inhibitors are usually used in erectile dysfunction medications and work by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, improving blood flow so that you can achieve and sustain a fuller, firmer erection.

Cialis can stay in your system for up to 36 hours, but does not provide an erection for the entire period. It will allow you to get an erection through sexual stimulation during that period.

How do I take Cialis?

Take one pill with water, either on an empty stomach or after a meal, at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. It will continue to work for up to 36 hours but will only support blood flow to the penis when you are aroused.

Cialis Take your tablet on an empty stomach, or with a meal. Preferably with water, and at least 30 minutes before sexual activity/intercourse. Cialis does not work without sexual stimulation. Your erection will only last as long as you are aroused. Talk to your doctor before using this treatment if you are currently taking any other ED medication. Store the tablets at room temperature, preferably away from light and moisture.

Can I take Cialis every day?

Because the 10mg and 20mg doses are so long-lasting, they are not suitable for daily use. If you have sex more than three times a week, a daily, lower-strength prescription of Cialis, often known as Cialis Daily or Cialis Once-A-Day is available.

Can Cialis be taken with food and alcohol?

Cialis can be taken with or without food and even a small amount of alcohol. However, you should not drink heavily when using this medication, as this may increase your risk of side effects, like headaches, dizziness, and changes in blood pressure.

Certain foods, such as grapefruit juice and other grapefruit products, should also be avoided while on Cialis, as they may affect how well the medication works.

What doses are available?

The dose recommended will depend on several factors, including the severity of your condition, possible drug interactions, your age, and any prior experience you have had with ED medications. Our doctors will take these factors into account when you buy Cialis from us.

Cialis is offered in two doses: Cialis 10mg and Cialis 20mg. The starting dose is usually 10 mg. This is effective for most people, but a 20mg dose may be recommended if 10mg has not proved potent enough.

For more spontaneity, Cialis Daily is an option for daily use which is available in 2.5mg and 5mg doses.

What is the difference between Cialis and Tadalafil?

Tadalafil is the generic (non brand-name) version of Cialis. They work in the same way and contain the same active ingredient.

What are the possible side effects?

All prescription medications may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. People who do experience side effects while on Cialis find that they are usually mild to moderate in nature, and may go away as your body gets used to the medication.

Common side effects of Cialis include:

  • headache
  • back pain
  • muscle aches
  • pain in arms and legs
  • facial flushing
  • nasal congestion
  • indigestion
  • reflux

Cialis also increases the risk for certain rare but serious side effects, such as:

  • an allergic reaction
  • chest pain
  • a prolonged erection that will not go away (priapism)
  • sudden loss of vision

If you develop these symptoms, or any other concerning side effects, you should stop using Cialis and seek immediate medical attention. You may be better off taking a lower dose or a different medication.

Who can take Cialis?

Cialis is used to treat erectile dysfunction in adult men. Although ED is more common in older men, it can happen at any age.

What precautions should I take?

Certain medications may interact with Cialis. You should inform all healthcare providers about any medications or supplements you are taking, even if they are not prescribed.

Do not take Cialis if you are taking nitrates, which are commonly prescribed for chest pain (angina). This includes medications such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, and isosorbide mononitrate. Nitrates can also be found in “poppers,” which are recreational drugs like amyl nitrite and butyl nitrite. This is because these medications lower your blood pressure, and taking them together with ED medication may cause your blood pressure to drop to an unsafe level.

You should also not take Cialis if you are taking:

  • guanylate cyclase stimulators such as Adempas (riociguat)
  • alpha blockers, such as Flomax (tamsulosin HCl), which are commonly prescribed for high blood pressure (hypertension) and to reduce symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (commonly referred to as BPH or enlarged prostate)
  • other medications used to treat high blood pressure
  • HIV protease inhibitors, such as ritonavir or hepatitis C virus protease inhibitors, such as rifampin
  • oral antifungals, such as ketoconazole or itraconazole
  • certain antibiotics, such as erythromycin or clarithromycin
  • other ED treatments, such as Viagra (sildenafil) or Levitra (vardenafil)
  • another form of tadalafil, such as Adcirca, which is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension

You should also not take Cialis if you:

  • are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine
  • have heart problems, such as heart failure, angina or an irregular heartbeat
  • have heart disease or have recently had a heart attack or stroke
  • have low blood pressure or high blood pressure that is not controlled
  • have experienced a loss of vision due to non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION)

Tell your healthcare provider before taking Cialis if you have certain medical conditions, such as:

  • sickle cell anemia
  • multiple myeloma
  • leukemia
  • a degenerative eye disease such as retinitis pigmentosa
  • a physical condition that affects the shape of your penis, such as Peyronie’s disease
  • a serious liver or kidney problem

This medication should be stored at room temperature.

Cialis does not protect against sexually transmitted infections so it is important that you practice safe sex practices.
