Fluticasone propionate

Fluticasone propionate is a corticosteroid nasal spray used to treat hay fever and year-round allergies such as dust or pet allergies. It reduces inflammation in the lining of the nose, helping to relieve swelling, irritation, and other nasal allergy symptoms such as a blocked or runny nose and sneezing.

If you are 12 or older and experience nasal congestion related to allergic rhinitis, you can use fluticasone to relieve symptoms.

Do not use if you:

• Are allergic to fluticasone or any other active ingredients

Use with caution if you:

• Have had recent nasal surgery or trauma
• Have an infection in your nose

Fluticasone propionate typically starts to work within 12 to 24 hours, but it may take several days for the full benefits to be felt.

Common side effects include:

• Nosebleeds
• Headache
• Unpleasant taste or smell
• Dry nose
• Sore throat

Less common side effects include:

• Skin reactions

Contact your doctor immediately if you experience:

• Blurred vision or other visual disturbances
• Severe nosebleeds
• Fever

Seek immediate help if you experience any symptoms of an allergic reaction such as:

• Difficulty breathing
• Swelling of the face, mouth or tongue
• Skin rashes
