Ventolin & Albuterol
Quick relief
The normal way to use your inhaler is 1 or 2 puffs when you need it. .
You can use it up to a maximum of 4 times in 24 hours, regardless of whether you have 1 puff or 2 puffs at a time.
Exercise-induced
To prevent breathing symptoms, take 2 puffs 15 to 30 minutes before exercise.
This will help to prevent or relieve exercise-induced asthma symptoms.
When it’s not enough
If you need to use your inhaler more than 4 times in 24 hours or it doesn’t relieve your symptoms, your asthma might not be well controlled. Speak to your doctor, as you may need a change in treatment.

What is Albuterol and how does it work?

It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, helping them open up so you can breathe more easily.

Who can use Albuterol?
Albuterol is recommended for patients 4 years of age and older with asthma or COPD.*

How do I use Albuterol correctly?
To use the Albuterol inhaler correctly:
- Shake the inhaler well before each use.
- Remove the cap from the mouthpiece.
- Breathe out fully through your mouth as far as is comfortable.
- Place the mouthpiece between your lips and close your lips around it.
- While breathing in slowly and deeply through your mouth, push the canister down fully, then release.
- Remove the inhaler from your mouth, and hold your breath for up to 10 seconds.
- Breathe out slowly, away from the inhaler.
- If your doctor has prescribed additional puffs, wait one minute, shake the inhaler again and repeat steps 3 to 7.
