Junel Fe FAQs

What is Junel Fe 1/20?

Junel Fe 1/20 is an FDA-approved birth control pill which is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy when taken correctly. It is a combined oral contraceptive which contains 0.02mg of ethinyl estradiol and 1mg of norethindrone acetate.

You can purchase Junel Fe 1/20, as well as alternative medications with the same formulation, Blisovi 1/20 and Tarina 1/20 online, from Speedy Health.

How does Junel Fe 1/20 work?

Throughout the course of your menstrual cycle, your hormone levels fluctuate. Hormonal contraceptives provide a consistent supply of these hormones, which helps to prevent pregnancy.

Junel Fe 1/20 prevents conception from taking place by suppressing ovulation and thickening the mucus in the womb so that sperm cannot reach an egg. It also changes the thickness of the womb lining so that if an egg were to be fertilized, it would be less able to implant into the womb and grow.

How do I take Junel Fe 1/20?

For Junel Fe 1/20, each pill strip consists of 28 tablets. There are 21 light yellow tablets, which contain the active ingredient, and 7 brown placebo tablets containing ferrous fumarate. You should take one tablet a day at the same time every day for 28 days.

When starting out on Junel Fe 1/20, take the first pill on the first day of your period. This is the first day you are bleeding. You can also begin the Sunday after your period starts, but you will still need to use an alternative contraception method, such as a condom, until you have finished the first seven tablets to prevent pregnancy.

For Blisovi 1/20 and Tarina 1/20, the instructions are the same, but there are no brown placebo tablets - instead, you will have a 7-day tablet-free week.

You should always follow the advice of the prescribing doctor as well as the instructions included with the medication.

What are the possible side effects of Junel Fe 1/20?

Side effects are a possibility of most medications, although combined contraceptive pills are usually well tolerated.

Some of the most common side effects include:

  • spotting or bleeding in between periods
  • nausea
  • bloating and fluid retention
  • breast tenderness or pain
  • headaches

You may not experience any side effects, and some side effects may be temporary as a result of starting the medication and will decrease over time.

Taking combined contraceptive pills may increase your risk of developing a blood clot. If you think you are experiencing the signs of a blood clot, such as difficulty breathing, pain in your limbs, sharp chest pains, warm skin, swelling, and cramping, get medical help immediately.

More information about side effects will be included with your medication. If you experience any side effects that are persistent or particularly concerning, talk to your healthcare provider.

What precautions should I take?

Combined contraceptives are not suitable for everyone.

If you are over the age of 35 and smoke, you should not use Junel Fe 1/20. This is because it could increase your risk of serious cardiovascular side effects, such as a heart attack or blood clot.

If you are breastfeeding and want to use Junel 1/20, ask your primary healthcare provider about using a different form of contraception.

Your doctor may also not prescribe Junel Fe 1/20 if you have:

  • a history of blood clots or blood clotting disorders
  • uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • diabetes with certain complications
  • heart problems, such as a heart attack
  • previously had a cancer which is sensitive to estrogen, such as breast cancer
  • liver tumors, jaundice or liver disease
  • kidney disease or adrenal disease

Breastfeeding is not recommended while on combined contraceptive pills.

You will still need to practice safe sex, as this medication will not protect you from sexually transmitted infections.

Are there any interactions with other medications?

You should detail any medications or supplements you are taking, even if they are not on prescription, as some medications can make combined oral contraceptives less effective. This includes certain antibiotics, antifungals, medication for epilepsy and HIV, and herbal remedies like St. John’s Wort.

Further information on precautions and interactions will be included with your medication.

Can I buy Junel Fe 1/20 online?

You can buy Junel Fe 1/20, Blisovi 1/20, and Tarina 1/20 tablets online from Speedy Health by completing our online consultation. A doctor will then assess your responses to determine whether or not the medication is suitable for you. If approved, it will be sent on to our pharmacy, and you will receive your order with free next-day delivery.

Are there alternatives to Junel 1/20?
