Latisse is an eyelash growth serum that is clinically proven to enhance eyelash growth, thickness, and darkness.

Latisse is the brand name for the active ingredient and generic medicine called Bimatoprost. Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03% was first approved by the FDA to treat high pressure in the eye (ocular hypertension) and help with glaucoma. Follow these instructions to use Latisse:

1. Clean your face and remove any makeup and contact lenses (if applicable). At night, place one drop of Latisse onto one disposable sterile applicator.
2. Apply Latisse immediately by brushing the applicator along the skin of the upper eyelid margin (where your eyelashes meet your skin). Blot off any excess solution.
3. Repeat these steps for the opposite eyelid margin using a new sterile applicator.

It usually takes 16 weeks to experience the maximum benefit. After 16 weeks, talk to your doctor about ongoing use.

Do not apply Latisse to your lower eyelash line, inside the eye, or use it as an eye drop. Avoid applying this more than once a day as doing this won’t increase the growth of your eyelashes.

To avoid contaminating this product, avoid touching the tip of the bottle or applicator to your fingers or any other surface. If this product is contaminated by bacteria it may cause infections.

Please note that if you stop using Latisse, your eyelash appearance is expected to gradually return to how it was before treatment.

Interactions

This product contains an ingredient that may be absorbed by and cause a change in the color of soft contact lenses. If you wear contact lenses, remove these before applying Latisse, you can put them back in after 15 minutes.

Latisse is safe to use for most people. In clinical studies, side effects were reported in less than 4% of people using this medicine.

Latisse’s side effects most commonly include experiencing an itching sensation in the eyes and/or red eyes.

Other reported side effects are less common and typically occur around the skin where the solution is applied, or in the eyes. These side effects include:

• Skin darkening (on areas where the solution is applied - this is reversible when you stop using Latisse)
• Eye irritation
• Dry eyes
• Red eyelids

A small percentage of people using this product notice brown darkening of the colored part of the eye (iris) which is likely to be permanent. This is rare and typically occurs when the solution gets into the eye. This is why Latisse should never be applied directly to the eyes or the lower eyelid.

There is a chance that hair may grow outside the treated area. To reduce this risk, the solution should only be applied to the base of the eyelashes and any excess should be blotted away.

Seek medical help immediately if you develop a new eye condition (e.g., injury or infection), experience a sudden decrease in vision, have eye surgery, or develop any eye reactions, especially conjunctivitis or eyelid reactions. If these occur your doctor may suggest stopping treatment.
